The staff at TTM Finishes recently completed a new polished concrete overlay floor at the new North Face store that is scheduled to open as part of the newest expansion at Yorkdale Mall in Toronto. The store’s architects and designer chose to work with the new concrete overlay material from Ardex called PC-T Polished Concrete Topping.
After securing the job with JAG Contracting we met with them to plan our work on the floor. Having to work on the entire floor at one time meant that other contractors on the site would be inconvenience and we work together with JAG to minimize this as much as possible.
Once our start date came around we began by grinding and prepping the existing floor. After laying down a bonding layer of epoxy and sand, we mixed and laid down approx 5,000 sf of Ardex’s PC-T concrete topping at 3/8″ depth. Once it was placed we began the grinding process and brought the finished floor up to a 3,000 grit level polish.
Ardex’s technical and sales staff came by the job site to see the final work and gave our floor a 9 out of 10.
Our contractor was quite please with the job and I know the Ardex people were quite please as well. The Ardex PC-T Polished Concrete Topping material requires alot of attention to detail to get it laid and polished just right and we’re pleased that we were able to do it so well for our first job with this unique material.
